COALVILLE, Utah – Fueled by six birdies during the opening two rounds of the 2025-26 season on Monday, sophomore Nolan Kuszyk sits seventh on the leaderboard at Utah’s The Wohali as Cal Poly – as a team – is in 12th place.
At the 7,873-yard, par-71 Wohali Golf Club, Kuszyk – an All-Big West second team honoree last season – opened the year with a two-over 73 that included three birdies. He returned in Monday afternoon’s second round with three more birdies as part of a two-under 69.
With play suspended late in the second round due to darkness, Kuszyk’s even-par 142 is seven shots behind overall leader Connor Williams of Arizona State.
Cal Poly’s remaining four players in the field will have a final hole to complete when second-round play resumes Tuesday morning. Junior Louis Pilod produced three birdies Monday and is 45th overall at nine over. Junior Jack Jarvis, also an owner of three birdies Monday, sits one shot back in 50th.
Junior Leo Metzger is 55th at 11 over while graduate player Kyle Dougherty – an offseason transfer from UC San Diego – is in 67th.
As a program, 12th-place Cal Poly – with an uncompleted second round – is 10 shots shy of eighth-place UCLA at 29 over.
Action at The Wohali resumes Tuesday morning with the completion of the second round before the field begins round three.
