SAN LUIS OBISPO – Welcoming back five of its top eight scorers from last season – including 2025 All-Big West second team honoree Nolan Kuszyk (above) – the Cal Poly men’s golf program begins the 2025-26 season at Utah’s The Wohali Sept. 15-16.
Action at Wohali Golf Club (Coalville, Utah) gets underway with 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 15 before concluding with a final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
Kuszyk enters The Wohali lineup as Cal Poly’s leading returning scorer from last spring after averaging 73.1 strokes per 30 rounds. With three top 20 finishes last season, Kuszyk best showing was a fifth-place effort at Eastern Kentucky’s Mesquite Desert Classic.
Junior Leo Metzger debuted in the Cal Poly lineup last season with a 74.0 stroke average, six rounds under par and a season-best, eighth-place finish Wake Forest’s Lyon’s Links Invitational at Royal Dublin Golf Club.
Reese Sato fired a 74.3 stroke average with four top-30 showings last season as the Mustangs also return fellow junior Louis Pilod (75.1) and senior Sean Lehman (75.9).
During the offseason, Cal Poly welcomed graduate student Kyle Dougherty as a transfer from UC San Diego while Zihao Wang and Rafael Bobo-Lloret arrive as freshman.
Following The Wohali, Cal Poly continues fall action at SMU’s Trinity Forest Collegiate (Oct. 5-7) and the Saint Mary’s Invitational (Oct. 20-22) before the Mustangs host The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate at The Preserve in Carmel Valley (Oct. 27-28).
