SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Two former Cal Poly women’s basketball players, Annika Shah and Sidney Richards, have both signed professional contracts with overseas organizations.
Shah has signed to play for the London Lions of the Super League Basketball in England, the country’s top league. Richards will play for the Limerick Celtics of the Irish Domino's Division One, Ireland’s top women’s basketball league.
Both Shah and Richards finished their Mustang careers this past season. Shah finished her Cal Poly career eighth all time in career points and is the program’s record holder for career free throw percentage. She was a two-time All-Big West honoree and was one of the most prolific three point shooters in Cal Poly history.
Richards spent the final two seasons of her collegiate career after transferring from San Jose State. The Sacramento native was top five on the team in scoring in each of her two seasons in San Luis Obispo while also being one of the top perimeter defenders in the Big West.
Both graduated from Cal Poly this past June and will become two of the latest in a long line of Mustangs who have gone on to play professional basketball overseas.
