SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women’s soccer program opened its 2025 preseason training camp on Tuesday morning at Doerr Family Field.
The first day of preseason camp will officially mark the start of a new era for the team under first-year head coach Bernardo Silva. Cal Poly returns over half of its goal production from a year ago and 12 letterwinners from the 2024 squad, including All-Big West Honorable Mention selections Jessie Halladay, Sophia Minnite and Annika Smith. After having 12 players graduate, the Mustangs will also have plenty of new faces this season as Silva spent the offseason bolstering the roster with eight talented transfers — forward Shelby Runje (University of Washington/Issaquah, WA), midfielders Ruby Casey (Miami University, Ohio/Orange, CA), Madelyn Dougherty (Sacramento State/Kula, HI) and Julia Moore (Long Beach State/Santa Cruz, CA), defenders Ava Mirelez (Cal State Fullerton/Clovis, CA), Michelle Pham (San Francisco State/Garden Grove, CA) and Ally Thomas (Ole Miss/Newport Beach, CA) and goalkeeper Alyssa Szarlacki (Nevada/San Jose, CA).
