SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly tennis teams continued their reputation of excelling at a high level both on the court and in the classroom as 12 total players — six members each from the Mustang men’s and women’s teams — were named 2025 ITA Scholar-Athletes on Monday. In addition, both the men’s and women’s programs received ITA All-Academic Team recognition.
This is the 10th straight year the Cal Poly women’s tennis team — who advanced to their fifth consecutive Big West Championship match in 2025 — has earned ITA All-Academic Team honors, while it marks the seventh consecutive year the men’s team has garnered the praise.
For programs to receive the ITA All-Academic Team Award, a team must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher for the 2024-25 academic year. To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete had to achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the 2024-25 academic year.
For the third straight year, six players for the Cal Poly women’s team secured ITA Scholar-Athlete status — Kennedy Buntrock, Peyton Dunkle, Amy Leather, Sarah MacCallum, Romane Mosse and Anushree Shekhera.
Buntrock and MacCallum are now three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete honorees, while Dunkle finishes her career as a two-time selection. This is the first time Leather, Mosse and Shekhera have garnered the praise.
For the men, the six players named ITA Scholar-Athletes were Aaron Eliscu, Sean Ferguson, Raz Haviv, Sean Kamyshev, Liam Toroman and Bastiaan Weststrate.
This is the second time Ferguson, Kamyshev and Weststrate have earned the honor, and the first Eliscu and Haviv have secured a selection.
