No. 6 Mustangs Collect Pair of Sweeps to Open Big West Challenge

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The sixth ranked Cal Poly beach volleyball team extended its winning streak to 10 after collecting a pair of sweeps Friday at the first day of the Big West Challenge at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex.
The No. 6 Mustangs (12-2) picked up 5-0 wins over both Sacramento State and No. 17 Hawai’i at home.
Three Mustang pairs, the No. 1 of Erin Inskeep and Piper Ferch, the No. 2 pair of Logan Walter and Izzy Martinez, and the No. 5 pair of Abbey Reinard and Elise Lenahan, all went 2-0 on the day.
Ferch and Inskeep are now 12-2 and have won 12 in a row. Walter and Martinez and 13-1 and have won 10 straight. Reinard and Lenahan are 9-1 together with four straight wins.
Cal Poly will face Cal State Bakersfield at 2 p.m. and No. 8 Long Beach State at 7 p.m. Saturday for day two of the Big West Challenge.
