
Mustangs Complete Revenge Tour Against UC San Diego in Four Sets

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly continued its remarkable run at Mott Athletics Center on Saturday, extending the nation's second-longest active home win streak to 18 games with a four-set victory over UC San Diego.
After dropping a tight opening set, the Mustangs (21-5, 12-2 Big West) rallied to win the next three (19-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-14) to improve to a perfect 14-0 at home this season. With four matches remaining in the regular season, the Mustangs remain one win behind UC Davis for the Big West lead.
The match was a historic one for redshirt senior setter Emme Bullis, who eclipsed 4,000 career assists, becoming just the fourth Mustang in the program's Division I era to accomplish the feat.
The visiting Tritons started strong, capitalizing on a .326 attacking percentage to claim the first set 25-19. However, Cal Poly’s defense stiffened in the second set, holding UCSD to a negative hitting percentage while racking up multiple team blocks to even the match with a 25-19 win of their own.
The momentum fully shifted to the Mustangs in the third set. The offense found its rhythm, pounding down 18 kills with a .533 attack percentage to seize control with a 25-16 win. Cal Poly closed out the match emphatically in the fourth, using a late 8-1 run to pull away and seal a 25-14 victory.
Bullis, on top of her milestone sets, added two kills, five block assists, and eight digs in an all-around performance. Kendall Beshear led the offensive charge, hammering a team-high 15 kills while hitting .317 and also contributing seven digs.
Emma Fredrick was also a key contributor on both sides of the ball, posting 14 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Annabelle Thalken was the third Mustang with double-digit kills, notching 12 with a .391 attack percentage while adding four block assists.
Chloe Leluge was instrumental in the defensive turnaround, recording a solo block and six block assists to go with six kills. Elif Hurriyet also contributed greatly to the defensive momentum with a team-high 11 digs.
Cal Poly enters the regular season’s penultimate stretch next week, traveling to UC Santa Barbara for part two of the 2025 Blue-Green Rivalry on Thursday before Senior Day as the Mustangs host Hawai’i on Saturday.
