- Cal Poly men’s soccer sits just one point behind Big West co-leaders Cal State Bakersfield and UC Santa Barbara as the Mustangs visit Sacramento State on Wednesday, Oct. 15 (3 p.m.) before renewing the Blue-Green rivalry at home against UCSB on Saturday, Oct. 18 (4 p.m.).
- Cal Poly volleyball sits third in the Big West standings as they head into a homestand against UC Irvine (Friday) and Cal State Fullerton (Saturday).

Big West Race Heats Up for Cal Poly Men’s Soccer
- Cal Poly men’s soccer sits just one point behind Big West co-leaders Cal State Bakersfield and UC Santa Barbara as the Mustangs visit Sacramento State on Wednesday, Oct. 15 (3 p.m.) before renewing the Blue-Green rivalry at home against UCSB on Saturday, Oct. 18 (4 p.m.).
- The Mustangs improved to seven points in the Big West table with a 4-0 home victory against UC San Diego (Oct. 14).
- With another capacity crowd expected at Mustang Memorial Field for Saturday’s 4 p.m. matchup with UC Santa Barbara, gates will open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available HERE.
Volleyball Returns to Mott Aiming to Defend 13-Match Home Streak
- The Mustangs redeemed themselves last week with a pair of defining victories. They first secured a hard-fought, five-set win (16-25, 25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 15-12) over Blue-Green rivals UC Santa Barbara, marking their third consecutive victory over the Gauchos.
- Building on that momentum, Cal Poly then delivered a commanding performance by sweeping Hawai'i (25-20, 25-14, 25-22) on the road for the program's first sweep over the Rainbow Wahine since 2019.
- Emma Fredrick led the team with 29 kills (3.63 per set) last week and added the second-most digs (21). Cal Poly's go-to pin hitter now ranks sixth in the Big West for total kills (207).
- Last week’s results solidified a strong conference start for the Mustangs, who now hold a 13-5 (4-2 Big West) record. Cal Poly sits third in the conference standings as they head into a homestand against UC Irvine (Friday) and Cal State Fullerton (Saturday).
Women’s Soccer Looks to Continue Ascent Up Big West Table in Southern California
- Following a decisive 2-0 home victory over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Cal Poly travels to Southern California this week for a pair of pivotal Big West matches. The Mustangs take on Long Beach State at 6 p.m. Thursday before facing UC Irvine at 1 p.m. Sunday. Sunday’s match in Irvine will be televised live on ESPN+, while Thursday’s contest at Long Beach will not be streamed.
- With four matches remaining in the regular season, Cal Poly (5-2-8 overall, 3-2-1 Big West) currently sits in a three-way for third place in the conference standings with 10 points. The Mustangs are just 1 point behind conference co-leaders UC Santa Barbara and CSUN at 11 points.
- After netting both goals in Sunday’s 2-0 triumph over the Titans, junior forward Annika Smith was crowned the Big West Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in her career. Smith’s Sunday brace was the third of her career and her fourth multi-goal performance during her time as a Mustang.
- The Mustangs currently boast the conference’s top two leading scorers this season in Smith and senior forward Jessie Halladay. The dynamic duo is currently tied for the Big West lead in goals with seven apiece. Smith leads the conference in total points with 17 (seven goals, three assists), while Halladay is right on her reels with 16 (seven goals, two assists). Cal Poly’s also has the conference leader in assists as midfielder Madelyn Dougherty is setting the pace for the league with seven this season.
- After recording her fifth clean sheet of the season in Sunday’s victory, redshirt freshman goalkeeper Shannon Porubski was tabbed as the Big West Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.
- Following this week’s road contests, Cal Poly returns home next week to host its final two home matches of the season — Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. against UC Riverside and Sunday, Oct. 26 at noon against CSUN.
Cal Poly Football Enjoys Bye Week before Hosting Montana State Oct. 25
- This past Saturday, Cal Poly football gave No. 4 Montana all it could handle on the road in Missoula. The Mustangs forced two turnovers and led the Grizzlies 9-0 at halfime. However, the Mustangs ultimately fell, 28-9.
- Linebacker Mikey D'Amato once again led the team in tackles with 14, his third game recording double digit tackles. He and fellow linebacker Kenny Olson are top two in the Big Sky and both in the top 10 in the FCS in tackles.
- The Mustangs have a bye week this week before hosting No. 5 Montana State Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
Women’s Golf Wraps Up Tremendous Fall Season in Oklahoma
- At their last event three weeks ago, Cal Poly fired a program-record 272 (-16) in the first round. The team finished the tournament tied for second (571).
- Taylor Baker matched the individual single-round program record with a 65 (-7) in the first round. She finished the 36-hole event at 138 (-6), becoming the first Mustang to win an individual title since Kaylyn Noh in 2022. Baker also earned Big West Women’s Golfer of the Month for September, also the first Mustang to do so since Noh.
- Cal Poly wraps up the 2025 fall schedule with the Dale McNamara Invitational in Broken Arrow, Okla., on Monday and Tuesday. The Mustangs placed seventh of 16 teams at the same event last season.
Cross Country Heads to Missouri for Pre-Nationals
- The Cal Poly men’s and women’s cross country teams are back in action this Saturday to compete in their final regular season meets. The Mustangs will send their top runners on both sides to the Pre-Nationals meet hosted by Missouri at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, the site of this year’s NCAA Championship meet. The rest of the team will travel north to the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara.
- Racing from Missouri starts at 8 a.m. PDT Saturday, while action from the Bronco Invite starts at 8:45 a.m.
- In Cal Poly’s last action on Oct. 3, the men placed fifth at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, finishing ahead of a pair of nationally ranked teams at the time in North Carolina and Washington. The women took 12th at the meet in a highly-competitive field that featured seven nationally ranked teams.
- After wrapping regular season action this week, Cal Poly will travel to Honolulu, Hawai'i on Friday, Oct. 31 to compete in the Big West Championships. The Mustangs will be looking to sweep the Big West men’s and women’s team titles at the meet for the fourth straight year.
Women’s Tennis Gears Up for ITA Southwest Regionals
- The top players on the Cal Poly women’s tennis team will compete in the ITA Southwest Regionals in San Diego this Thursday through Tuesday, while the rest of the team will take part in the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego this Thursday through Saturday.
- Nine of Cal Poly’s 11 players are scheduled to be in action this week, including returning All-Big West honorees Kennedy Buntrock, Natalie Lynch and Jessica MacCallum.
- At Cal Poly’s first tournament of the fall season two weeks ago, Buntrock and Lynch reached the championship match in doubles play at the Big West Masters Qualifier hosted by UC San Diego, while junior Candela Aparisi advanced to the semifinals in singles.
Men’s Tennis to Test Mettle at ITA Southwest Regionals
- Last week, the team split up, sending four representatives each to the USTA SoCal Intercollegiates in San Diego and the Aggie Invitational in Davis.
- Lubbe and the doubles pair of Kamyshev/Cross advanced to their respective quarterfinals in San Diego, while Aaron Eliscu advanced to the Aggie Invitational quarterfinals.
- The Mustangs now head to the ITA Southwest Regionals in Tempe, Ariz., from Oct. 16-21.
