SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Less than a week since Cal Poly split results against conference foe Cal State Bakersfield, the Mustangs will celebrate their seniors in a final home meet against UC Santa Cruz.
Cal Poly and UC Santa Cruz have a storied history of facing each other with the Mustangs having swept every matchup in the last 15 years of results that are kept. Since 2008, the Mustangs have only avoided facing the Banana Slugs in a dual meet twice, 2019-20's COVID season and 2016-17.
Last season featured a dominant pair of victories with the men winning 237-60 and the women 224-69.
On Friday, Jan. 10 with diving starting at 11:00 AM and swimming at 1:00 PM, the Mustangs will celebrate nine seniors: Summer Cheng, Drew Huston, Sarah Jacobson, Madreena Lee, KellyAnn Lim, Taylor Lyon, Evan O'Connell, Finn Schlamp, Katie Treacy.
Earlier this week, swimcloud.com released its Division I Most Improved list, which had Cal Poly ranked #21 after jumping from 72nd overall to 58th in the nation by score (702).
The team is highlighted by NCAA B-Cut qualifying times from Drew Huston (#31 in 200 Back) and Evan Yoo (#28 in 200 Breast). Justin Dolezal has also put up Zone qualifying scores in both springboard dives.
