SAN LUIS OBISPO – With five women’s basketball players earning praise and 29 combined selections from Cal Poly’s swimming and diving programs, 35 Mustangs earned Big West Winter Academic All-Conference team honors on Monday.
In order to qualify for selection, student-athletes (excluding true freshmen and first-year transfers) had to maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA through the most recent academic term while also competing in at least 50 percent of their program’s competitions.
The complete listing of Cal Poly's 35 Big West Winter Academic All-Conference team honorees is below.
Among the women’s basketball program’s five selections, senior guard Sydney Bourland earned a third career honor while sophomore forward Sierra Lichtie became a two-time selection. Senior Annika Shah – named to the All-Big West second team after reaching 1,000 career points during the regular season – also earned selection alongside fellow guard Mary Carter (an All-Big West honorable mention selection). Senior guard Sydney Richards completed the women’s basketball program’s five-player class.
Graduate guard Jarred Hyder, named to the Big West Championship All-Tournament Team after helping Cal Poly to the semifinals, represented the men’s basketball program. Hyder, one of three men’s players this past year to reach 1,000 career points, set new program records during the 2024-25 season for total three-pointers (99) and three-point attempts (279) while averaging 14.5 points per night.
Highlighting the women’s swimming and diving program’s 16 honorees were senior Summer Cheng and sophomore Ella Bettencourt, members of Cal Poly’s program record-holding 400 freestyle relay team.
Among the men’s swimming and diving program’s 13 selections were junior Jonathan Butler (program record holder, 200 freestyle relay and 200 and 400 medley relays), junior Drew Huston (record holder, 100 and 200 backstroke, 200 freestyle relay and 200 and 400 medley relays) and junior Finn Schlamp (record holder, 200 and 400 medley relays).
