
Cal Poly Swimming and Diving Sweeps UC Santa Cruz on Senior Day

RESULTS
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly won all but two races on Friday as both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams celebrated Senior Day with much success to also close out the home meet slate.
To kick off Senior Day with diving at 11:00 AM, Ava Lazovsky showed out with 280.13 points for the 3-meter win and a Zone qualifying score. Also, for the first time since becoming Queen of the Diving Boards and recovering from a lingering injury, Shayna Gayer seemed back to full health with a 1-meter win (263.78).
On the men's diving side, Lucas Lehrer swept the springboard events, scoring 316.95 in the 3-meter and 295.35 in the 1-meter.
Summer Cheng earned two individual race wins in the 50 Free (24.42) and 100 Fly (58.62) to pair with a 200 Free Relay (1:39.00) in the leadoff position alongside Ella Bettencourt, Rhian Neitzel, and Melia Costa.
Winning the 100 Breast (1:07.64) and 200 IM (2:11.54) was Amalie Claus-Udarbe while also helping Cal Poly's 400 Medley Relay win (3:58.44) with Kristin Der, Mikaela Gomez, and Keira Scott. Der totaled two wins, one being the relay and the other being an individual 100 Breast victory (58.76).
Olivia Sundgren swept her two events on the day, pacing the 500 Free (5:09.84) and taking the 1000 Free (10:31.28) by over 25 seconds.
For women's swimming, three more athletes took individual race wins with Taylor Lyon earning a 200 Fly win (2:09.14), Brielle Vail winning the 200 Breast (2:27.80), and Kayla Wieckowski pacing the 200 Back (2:10.70).
Evan Yoo won every event he competed in for the second weekend in a row, helping take the two relays but also individually winning the 1000 Free (9:30.16) and 100 Fly (49.33), the most total victories on the day with four.
Alex Seybold snatched three individual victories in the 100 Breast (56.83), 200 Breast (2:05.44), and 200 IM (1:54.33). Sam Seybold, the younger brother, won the 200 Back (1:50.84) to make it four total wins for the Seybold family.
Jonathan Butler totaled three wins, including one individual with the 50 Free (20.82) and a pair of relay victories in the 200 Free Relay (1:23.17) and 400 Medley Relay (3:20.58), both of those alongside Drew Huston, Evan Yoo, and Evan O'Connell. Huston placed second or better in all of his events, which like Butler also included three total wins: 400 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, and 100 Back (50.64). Also winning three events was Evan O'Connell who, along with his two relays, also won the 100 Free (46.70).
Elsewhere individually, Nick Elliott took the 200 Free (1:42.54), Lucas Meneghetti picked up full points in the 500 Free (4:43.02), Will Newlands won the 200 Fly (1:53.01).
The regular season finally wraps up with two meets in the Bay Area on back-to-back days with Pacific on Jan.17 and UC Davis on Jan. 18 before the Big West Championships in mid-February.
