SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Returning three All-Big West honorees from last season's team, Cal Poly women's golf is set to kick off the 2025 spring season Sunday in Palos Verdes Estates at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.
The three day tournament, hosted by Ohio State at the 6,017 yard, par 71 Palos Verdes Golf Club, features some of the top teams in the country. The tournament features 16 total teams, 14 of which rank in the top 50 in the country. Among those are six of the top ten ranked teams: South Carolina, USC, Texas, Oregon, Arizona State, and Arizona.
Cal Poly comes into the season ranked 72nd in the country after brining back five players from last year's team that finished second in the Big West championship, including two players who were in the top five in the individual standings in the Big West Championship.
The Mustangs are highlighted by the return of redshirt senior Jensen Jalufka, who last season set the program record for lowest season score average at 72.7. She earned First Team All-Big West honors after recording six top 15 finishes, including second at the Big West Championship.
Also back are two others who earned All-Big West honors in 2024 in senior Kamille Dimayuga and sophomore Sarah Yoo. Dimayuga earned second team honors last season after finishing the year with a 74.4 scoring average. She had four top 20 finishes and eight rounds at or below par, including a career-low 67. Yoo had a very strong first season last year, earning honorable mention All-Big West honors. She had a 75.1 scoring average for the season, five rounds at or under par, and two rounds of shooting 68.
Third year head coach Courtney Roberts added two newcomers to the team this season: freshman Jenny Keil from Bangkok, Thailand as well as freshman Nicole Koong from Sammamish, Wash.
This first tournament runs Sunday-Tuesday, with 18 holes played each day. This will be the first of six regular season events Cal Poly will compete in. The Big West Championship will once again take place at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas April 13-15.
