Huston Swims PR in 100 Back Prelims at Olympic Trials

MEN'S 100 BACK PRELIMS RESULTS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Cal Poly's Drew Huston opened his showing at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with an impressive performance in the men's 100-meter backstroke.

Huston, who will be a junior on the Cal Poly swimming and diving team in the fall, swam a long course lifetime best of 55.18 seconds in the 100 back preliminaries. He bested his previous PR by .3 seconds. The time was 28th overall in prelims and Huston took third in his heat. Entering the meet, Huston was seeded 52nd out of over 75 swimmers that competed in the event.

The Fox Island, Wash. native will compete in his final event at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Wednesday when he takes part in the preliminaries of the men's 200 back. Prelims start at 8 a.m. PDT Wednesday and you can watch Huston's race live on Peacock.
