
Cal Poly Holding Steady in Second, Two Players in Top Five After Second Round of Big West Championship

LAS VEGAS — Cal Poly women's golf kept its strong momentum from Sunday's first round going in the second round Monday, improving from day one by six strokes to remain in second place as a team while two Mustangs are in the top five heading into Tuesday's final round of the Big West Championship at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas.
During Monday's second round, the Mustangs shot five over par as a team to sit at 16 over for the tournament. They are 10 shots back of Long Beach State for first place. The Beach had an impressive second round, shooting two under par.
Individually, Kaylee Sakoda and Jensen Jalufka both had strong second rounds to be in the top five of the individual title standings heading into the final round. Sakoda shot a one under 71 Tuesday to move into second place at even par for the tournament. She is six shots back of Long Beach State's Jasmine Leovao.
Jalufka shot an even par 72 Tuesday to remain at three over for the tournament and sits tied for fourth.
Nicole Neale is tied for 11th heading into the final round after she shot a three over 75 Monday and is seven over for the tournament. Neale got off to a hot start to her round Monday, collecting birdies in five of the first six holes. She leads the entire field in birdies for the tournament with 10.
Cal Poly's other two players, Sarah Yoo and Kamille Dimayuga, both are in the top 30 heading into Tuesday. Yoo is tied for 23rd at 11 over while Dimayuga is tied for 26th at 12 over.
The Mustangs will look for a strong final round Tuesday as they look to comeback to win their fourth straight Big West title.
