Parrish Leads Cal Poly at Preserve; Play Suspended in Second Round

PRESERVE GOLF CLUB COLLEGIATE TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL SCORING
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA – Senior Jackson Parrish followed a morning one-under 71 with three afternoon birdies to sit in 17th place at The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate hosted by Cal Poly as action was suspended by darkness Monday evening with two-thirds of the field near completion of the second of three rounds and the initial 36 holes.
At the par-72, 7,138-yard Preserve Golf Club, just four of 13 squads managed to complete the opening 36 holes during the 10-hour window of play with San Diego State leading the field at 18 under with an uncompleted second round.
Play at The Preserve will resume at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the completion of the second round. The field will then begin the third and final round.
Elsewhere on the leaderboard for Cal Poly, senior Baron Szeto fired a one-under 71 with five birdies during round one before picking up two more birdies in an uncompleted second round to reach 24th position.
Senior Parker Mapes is in 40th after producing four birdies Monday while sophomore Reese Sato – after an opening-round 75 that included an eagle on the 527-yard, par-five eighth hole – is 50th after adding an afternoon birdie.
Sophomores Louis Pilod (who enjoyed four morning birdies) and Leo Metzger (with seven total birdies in an also uncompleted second round) share 56th. Four other Mustangs, comprising the majority of Cal Poly's B team entry, will also complete the second round Tuesday morning.
