
Szeto, Parrish Finish 10th to Close Preserve Collegiate

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA – Baron Szeto (above) fired a three-under 69 and Jackson Parrish followed with a final-round 70 as the Mustang men’s golf senior duo finished tied for 10th with three-under 213s Tuesday to complete action at The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate hosted by Cal Poly.
Szeto, earning his third top 10 finish of the fall at the par-72, 7,138-yard Preserve Golf Club, produced a birdie on the par-five, 527-yard eighth hole and four birdies for his 69 to move up nine positions on the final leaderboard with the 213 (71-73-69). Parrish, meanwhile, added four birdies to improve seven spots with his final-round 70 and the 213 (71-72-70) total.
Climbing 19 spots Tuesday was Mustang freshman Nolan Kuszyk, whose third-round 70 included five birdies. Kuszyk finished tied for 44th with an eight-over 224 (80-74-70).
One spot behind Kuszyk was senior Parker Mapes, who enjoyed four birdies Tuesday for a final 225 (77-73-75). Sophomore Louis Pilod – with three birdies Tuesday – followed in 57th with a 227 (76-75-76) while sophomore Leo Metzger enjoyed an eagle during the third round for a final 229 (77-74-78).
UCLA captured The Preserve Collegiate team title with a 23-under 841 while Colorado State’s Jay Pabin took home individual honors with a nine-under 207 (69-69-69).
Closing its fall schedule with The Preserve Collegiate, Cal Poly resumes action at Eastern Kentucky’s Mesquite Desert Classic, scheduled for Feb. 16-18 at Casablanca Golf Club (Mesquite, Nev.).
