TULSA, Okla. — Cal Poly senior women's golfer Jensen Jalufka had her best outing of the fall, finishing third in the individual standings at the Dale McNamara Invitational to lead the Mustangs to a seventh place finish as a team.
Jensen finished the tournament even par with a total score of 213 for the three round event, matching a season-low total score. She had rounds of 73, 70, and 70 at the par 71 Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Jalufka headed into Tuesday's final round tied for sixth before jumping up three spots from round two to round three after shooting consecutive rounds of one under par. She finished ahead of players from powerhouse schools like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, BYU, and Arkansas. Her third place finish is the highest by a Mustang this fall and her best since placing second at last spring's Big West Championship.
Freshman Nicole Koong finished tied for 30th at 15 over par after shooting rounds of 73, 79, and 76. Sophomore Sarah Yoo was tied for 43rd at 20 over par.
As a team, Cal Poly was 60 over par at 912. Arkansas won the event at six over par with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma finishing second and third.
With the fall portion of the season now wrapped up, Cal Poly will go back to training for the spring season which begins Feb. 2 in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
