SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's swimming and diving program hosts a dual with rival UC Davis on Friday at Anderson Aquatic Center.
Diving during the dual begins at 1:30 p.m. with swimming events scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
The event marks the Mustangs' first home competition since hosting Blue-Green rival UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 6.
During this past Saturday's dual at Cal State Bakersfield, the Cal Poly women had a handful of standout performances and grabbed four event victories. In the pool, freshman Amalie Claus-Udarbe led the way, capturing first in the 200-yard individual medley and second in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
The Mustangs swept the diving events in the dual with senior Briana Medvecki winning the 1-meter title and freshman Shayna Gayer taking first in the 3-meter dive. Medvecki's score of 290.85 in the 1-meter was the second best in program history, while Gayer nearly cracked the top five all-time in the 3-meter with her score of 283.40. Medvecki and Gayer both met the NCAA Zone E qualifying standards in the events. Medvecki's score in the 1-meter is also the best in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation this season.
Senior Kelly McDermott secured the other individual victory for the Cal Poly women during the dual, placing first in the 200 backstroke. McDermott is No. 4 all-time in school history in the event (2:01.34).
The full Mustang team returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27, when Cal Poly travels to UC Santa Cruz.
