FINAL RESULTS
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Cal Poly redshirt junior Jensen Jalufka once again had a strong day out on the course Tuesday, shooting a two over 74 to finish tied for 20th at the Leadership and Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course. After being just one over after two rounds Monday, Jalufka's Tuesday final round of 74 saw her finish three over for the tournament and in a seven-way tie for 20th place.
"Jensen rose to the occasion this week on a championship course," second-year head coach Courtney Roberts said. "She is a fierce competitor, resilient and led the way for our team." As a team, Cal Poly, who is coming off a spring in which they won their third straight Big West title, finished 14th out of 19 teams. USC took home the team tournament title after finishing 27 under. Minnesota was second at +4, and Oregon State was third at +10.
"Chambers Bay is an incredible golf course," Roberts added. "It places a premium on strategy and rewards great golf shots. It also exposes any weaknesses to your game. We learned a lot about our team, which is always our goal. There are a lot of positives to take forward." Cal Poly's other scores on the day included a final round four over 76 from graduate transfer Kaylee Sakoda. She finished 59th overall at +12. Junior Kamille Dimayuga shot 78, and senior Carissa Wu and Nicole Neale shot 78 and 80. For the tournament, Cal Poly tied for second for the most pars for the tournament with 57. The Mustangs will be in action again next week when they head to Fort Collins, CO for the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic Sept. 25 & 26..
"We look forward to cleaning a few things up and getting right back out to compete in Colorado next week."
