SACRAMENTO, Calif. — On Saturday, graduate student Rachel Victor put a bow on the 2023 NCAA West Preliminaries for the Cal Poly track and field program.
In front of her friends and family, the 2017 Pleasant Grove High grad put on one final show, placing 38th overall in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:28.01.
Victor, a 2022 Sacramento State grad, got to race at Hornet Stadium one final time in her first West Prelims appearance and felt the love from the crowd as she rounded the track.
In her one season as a Mustang, Victor left her mark and etched her name in the Cal Poly record books. Victor captured second at the conference championships to secure All-Big West honors, and at the Steve Scott Invitational on April 28 she ran the second-fastest 3,000 steeplechase time in school history (10:16.43). The time was just 0.5 seconds off the school record and allowed her to qualify for regionals.
