
Evans Wraps Up Season at NCAA West Prelims

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Freshman Lexi Evans was the only Mustang that took the stage for Cal Poly track and field on day two of the NCAA West Preliminaries at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium.
In the women's pole vault Thursday, Evans tied for 30th overall, clearing 13 feet, 0.25 inches in her first appearance at the West Prelims. This was Evans' third time vaulting over 13 feet this season.
Nearly two weeks ago at the Titan Track Complex, Evans captured second in the pole vault at the Big West Championships. The San Diego native is currently No. 5 on Cal Poly's all-time list in the event, clearing 13 feet, 3.75 inches at the Conover Classic this season.
On Friday, Anthony Guerra and Aidan McCarthy will both compete for the Mustangs on the third day of the West Prelims. Guerra, the Big West champion in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, will race in the quarterfinals at 5:40 p.m. while McCarthy will be looking to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships in the 800 at 7:05 p.m. You can follow the live results here and live coverage on ESPN+ begins at 5 p.m.
