The game was halted after eight innings and resumed at Baggett Stadium with the ninth inning. Villegas homered off his high school teammate, Trevor Ernt. Both are graduates of Beckman High School in Irvine, Calif.
Kyle Scott pitched the bottom of the ninth to his fourth save. The win went to Tanner Sagouspe (1-2), who tossed two scoreless innings in San Jose. The loss was charged to Cade Van Allen (0-3).
Villegas finished with three hits while Ryan Stafford, Joe Yorke and Kemet Brown each added two hits as Cal Poly outhit San Jose State 15-14.
