SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cal Poly is set to wrap up its homestand Friday as they prepare to take on Yale. Friday's match concludes the Mustangs' month-long stretch of matches at home, with the team hitting the road for its next five matches. Cal Poly does not return to the Mustang Tennis Complex until April 5th for a conference matchup against UC Riverside.
Rain has not been on the Mustangs' side as of late as it has forced three of its last four matches to be canceled. Friday's match will be the first in roughly two weeks for the program due to those cancellations.
Cal Poly and Yale are set to face off Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Mustang Tennis Complex. Live scoring will be available for fans to follow online for the match with links to be found on the men's tennis schedule page.
In the month of March, the Bulldogs (7-4) picked up two home wins against NJIT and Indiana before falling in a road match to UCLA on March 13. Friday's match is the third of a four match California road trip for the Bulldogs as they are also scheduled to face off against UCSB and Santa Clara. Yale is scheduled to return home March 31 to take on St. Johns before beginning conference play the following week against Harvard. The Bulldogs are following a 2022 season in which they compiled a record of 10-12 while going 2-8 on the road.
Cal Poly looks to even the all-time record against Yale, as the schools have faced off only one time before. The Mustangs dropped the match to the Bulldogs in January of 2019.
The Mustangs (3-5) look to get back into the win column after suffering a defeat to Santa Clara in its last match on March 4. Entering Friday's match, junior Noah Berry, ranked No. 71 in the country in singles, remains undefeated in singles play with six victories. His most recent was earned at the number one spot against Santa Clara's Arthur Neuhaus.
Following Friday's match, Cal Poly will travel to Texas as they take on Rice Friday, March 24th at 3 p.m.
