Six Mustang Men’s Tennis Players Earn All-Conference Honors

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Six Cal Poly men's tennis players earned Big West All-Conference honors, the Big West announced Wednesday. Sophomore Noah Berry as well as the doubles team of redshirt sophomore Joe Leather and graduate student Hendrik Inno all were named First Team All-Conference. Leather also was named Second Team All-Conference in singles and the doubles team of redshirt sophomore Colter Smith and freshman Bastiaan Weststrate were named Second Team All-Conference. Smith in singles as well as the double team of Berry and redshirt sophomore Fernando Fonseca received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. It's the second straight year Berry has been named First Team All-Conference in singles. He finished the year with a 13-4 overall record while playing at the No.1 spot, including 4-0 during Big West play. He also ended the year on a five-match win streak. Inno and Leather were 11-8 this year while splitting time at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the lineup and were 4-2 in Big West play. For Leather, this is his second consecutive year earning All-Conference honors in doubles. Leather earned Second Team All-Conference honors in singles after finishing the year with a record of 9-7 at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Smith and Weststrate garnered Second Team honors after a record of 9-7 from primarily the No. 2 spot. In singles, Smith was 9-6 at the No. 3 spot, including a 4-0 record in Big West play to earn All-Conference Honorable Mention. In doubles, Berry and Fonseca were 13-4 at the No. 3 spot, going 4-2 in Big West play. For both, this is their first time earning All-Conference honors in doubles. The Mustangs, who are ranked No. 63 in the country, ended the season with a 15-7 record. They were Big West regular season co-champions after going 8-1 in Big West play. It was their second straight year winning the regular season title.
