Hallett Adds to her School Record in Women's Hammer Throw

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Emily Hallett added more than two feet to her existing Cal Poly record in the women's hammer throw Thursday, exceeding the 200-foot mark for the first time in her collegiate career.
Competing in the Pacific Coast Invitational on the Jack Rose Track at Long Beach State, Hallett placed fifth in the event with a mark of 200 feet, 11 inches, exceeding the old mark of 198-6 set two weeks ago at the West Coast Relays in Clovis.
Four other Mustangs established new personal bests in the meet.
Chris Davis placed sixth in the men's 400 with a personal-best time of 48.82 seconds while Hunter Matys was sixth in the men's long jump at 22-7 3/4, another personal best.
Career bests also were set by Tyler Esteves in the men's 200 (22.01, eighth place) and Nick Gammal in the men's pole vault (14-7 1/2, 13th place).
Esteves also placed seventh in the men's 100 (10.82) and ran a leg on the Mustang four-by-100 relay team which placed second with a season-best time of 41.27 seconds. Joey Souto, Davis and Matys also ran legs in the event. Souto also was fourth in the men's 400 hurdles (53.89).
Logan Moon, Mason Elefant and Quinton Alexander finished 2-3-4 in the men's 800 while Melody Nwagwu and Karina Moreland were 3-4 in the women's triple jump.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific at Cougar Stadium, Dylan Bouzigues placed fifth in the Group B decathlon with a personal-best total of 7,045 points, establishing personal bests in several events.
Bouzigues won the pole vault (equalling his personal best of 15-3), placed second in the discus (personal-best 131-1) and was third in the 110 high hurdles (personal-best 15.01), javelin (159-2) and 1,500 (personal-best 4:33.59).
Three Mustangs finished in the top 12 in the men's open A Section 3 5,000 as William Fallini-Haas was fifth (14:04.91), Spencer Thurman sixth (14:05.31) and John Bennett 12th (14:11.75), all personal-best times.
Jake Ritter finished 14th in the men's invitational Section 4 5,000 with a season-best time of 14:15.88 while Adelae Fredeen finished 19th in the Group B heptathlon with 4,538 points.
Aidan McCarthy posted the sixth-fastest time in school history in the men's 1,500 with a time of 3:44.39 for 79th place.
