No. 11 Mustangs Host First Home Matches of 2022 Season This Week

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – No. 11 Cal Poly beach volleyball is hosting four teams for its first home matches of the season Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 at Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex.
There are five matches each day. Matches Friday begin at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m. The four teams visiting include San Jose State, No. 6 LMU, University of Washington, and Arizona State.

So far this season, six of the Mustangs' first eight matches have been against ranked teams. Last season, The Mustangs had a home record of 10-3.
The No. 1 pair of freshman Ella Connor and redshirt senior Tia Miric are 4-4. Playing primarily at the No. 2 spot, freshman Piper Ferch and redshirt junior Jayelin Lombard are 3-5.
Friday the Mustangs will face San Jose State at 4 p.m. and LMU at 7 p.m. Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Cal Poly will play University of Washington and Arizona State at 1 p.m.
San Jose State is currently 2-5. Cal Poly is 3-0 all time against the Spartans. In the last two duels against San Jose State, in 2017 and 2018, the Mustangs beat the Spartans 5-0 each time.
No. 6 LMU is 8-1 overall. Their only loss this season came last week to then No. 6 LSU. On the Lions' roster this season is former Mustang standout Macy Gordan, who ranks No. 2 in all time wins at Cal Poly. Gordon is a 5th year grad transfer at LMU. The Mustangs are 3-5 all-time against the Lions.
University of Washington is 2-0 and haven't played a match in a little under two weeks. Cal Poly has only faced the Huskies one time in its history, in 2015 in which Washington won.
Currently on a three-match winning streak, the Sun Devils are 5-3 this season. Cal Poly's all-time record against Arizona State is 3-0.
Cal Poly will stay at home the following weekend Sunday, March 20 and Monday, March 21.
