Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week: Noah Berry

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After taking down the 20th ranked singles player in the NCAA and helping the Cal Poly men's tennis team defeat No. 75 Hawai'i last week, sophomore Noah Berry has been named the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Berry won in both singles and doubles as the No. 63 Mustangs beat the No. 75 Rainbow Warriors in Honolulu, 4-3 to open Big West play and improve to 10-4 overall this season.
In doubles, Berry teamed up with redshirt sophomore Fernando Fonseca at the No. 3 spot where they had a 6-2 win over Blaz Seric and Killian Maitre. They are now 8-2 together this season and are currently on a six-match winning streak.
Later in singles, Berry defeated Andre Ilagan, ranked 20th in the country, at the No. 1 spot in comeback fashion, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the 4-3 dual match victory for Cal Poly. Berry is 9-4 so far this season, all at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.
The Mustangs will be on the road for their next two matches as they will head to UC Irvine April 3 followed by UC Riverside April 4.
