
Mustangs Drop Saturday Road Contest at San Diego State

SAN DIEGO — After picking up a 7-0 win in its Big West opener over UC San Diego Friday, the Cal Poly women's tennis team fell in its second match in as many days to San Diego State Saturday, 7-0.
In doubles, the Mustangs (3-3, 1-0 BWC) No. 1 duo of redshirt juniors Emily Ackerman and Kim Bhunu fell 4-6 before Cal Poly's No. 2 pairing of redshirt sophomores Delanie Dunkle and Melissa LaMette won their match 6-3. Dunkle and LaMette are now a team-best 5-1 so far together this year.
At the No. 3 spot, the freshmen duo of Eliza Bates and Peyton Dunkle, who led 5-3 at one point, fell 5-7 paving the way for the Aztecs (5-1) to take the double point.
San Diego State proceeded to win all six singles matches to earn the 7-0 victory.
Cal Poly will now prepare to play its next two matches at home, starting Sunday, Feb. 20 against Big West foe UC Davis at 11 a.m.
