Cuevas Earns Freshman All-American Award from Stats Perform

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly redshirt freshman tight end Josh Cuevas has earned a spot on the Stats Perform Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-American Team.
Cuevas, a third-team All-Big Sky Conference selection and named to the Phil Steele/DraftScouts All-Big Sky third team last month, was second on the team with 57 receptions for 662 yards and six touchdowns during the 2022 season. He caught seven or more passes in a game four times, including a season-high 10 versus Portland State, and twice scored a pair of touchdowns in a game — against Northern Arizona and Montana State.
Cuevas' longest reception this season was a 42-yarder from Jaden Jones for a touchdown versus San Diego.
The 6-5, 245-pounnder from Los Angeles and a graduate of Campbell Hall High School, was named to the 2022 FCS All-Freshman Team by The Bluebloods.
A total of 31 players from 26 schools were named to the Freshman All-America Team, including Idaho quarterback Gevani McCoy, the Jerry Rice Award recipient. Idaho, Saint Francis, Towson, UT Martin and William & Mary had two selections each.
