SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's swimming and diving team hosts a dual meet with Pepperdine on Saturday at the Anderson Aquatic Center. The action starts at 11 a.m.
The Waves only have a women's program, so the Mustang men will not compete. MPSF rival UC Davis will also send a handful of divers to the meet.
Pepperdine, who competes in the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference, is fresh off a pair of home dual victories over Cal State East Bay this past week and heads to San Jose State on Friday for a dual before battling the Mustangs on Saturday.
Cal Poly is hosting the Waves for the first time since 2018 when they earned a 170-112 dual win. The Mustangs welcomed Pepperdine to San Luis Obispo every season from 2014-18, and emerged victorious each time.
Several Mustangs had standout performances during meets at CSU Bakersfield last week, led by senior Jacqueline Samaniego who obliterated the school record in the women's 1-meter dive with a score of 298.80 to place second.
Freshman Courtney Cross, the 2022 Queen of the Pool for Cal Poly, captured third in the 1000-yard freestyle in the Roadrunner Invitational and fifth in the 500 free in the CSUB Sprint Invitational, while senior Amy Harter earned sixth with a season-best time in the 50 free at the CSUB Sprint Invitational against competitors from Cal Baptist, CSU Bakersfield, San Jose State, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara.
The Mustangs will look to build off that success in Saturday's dual.
Cal Poly remains at home to host its Green vs. Gold intrasquad scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m., and its alumni meet on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
