ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Schuyler Gooley finished second in the 3,000-meter run while Cassidy Hubert placed third in the 600, highlighting Cal Poly's performances in the season-opening Michigan Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the U-M Indoor Track.
Gooley completed her event in 9 minutes, 51.69 seconds, finishing just .04 of a second behind winner Fian Sullivan-Sweeney of San Francisco.
Hubert's time of 1:33.22 is No. 2 all-time for the indoor 600 at Cal Poly, behind only Mikaela Romanini, who turned in a time of 1:31.90 in the 2020 New Mexico Classic.
A fourth-place finish was recorded by Melody Nwagwu in the triple jump with a mark of 39 feet, 2.25 inches, and teammate Karina Moreland was right behind in fifth place at 38-7.75.
Maya Holman placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 17-7.5 and Cal Poly's 4-by-400-meter relay team of Aspin Oliver, Anisa Rind, Belle Aduaka and Hubert claimed sixth place with a time of 3:59.24.
Roxanne Nolan and Annie Hatzenbeler shared ninth place in the pole vault at 11-6. while Aduaka placed 10th in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.31 seconds.
Emily Hallett added more than two feet to her school record in the women's weight throw, placing 12th with a mark of 53 feet, 9.5 inches. She set the previous mark of 51-5.5 in 2020 at the Arkansas Qualifier.
Cal Poly returns to the track Feb. 3-4 at the Washington State Indoor Invitational in Spokane, Wash.
