Cal Poly Caps Big West Prep Sunday at Seattle

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly women's soccer program completes preparations for its Sept. 23 Big West Conference opener when visiting Seattle on Sunday, Sept. 19. Kickoff from Championship Field is 1 p.m. for the Mustangs (4-4-0), who resume action following the program's largest margin of victory in six years – a 5-0 home victory against San Jose State (Sept. 12). Second among Big West programs in victories, Cal Poly has scored the opening goal in its last five matches with four of those strikes coming inside the opening six minutes. After opening the season with a 1-0 loss at Oregon State, Seattle (5-2-1) won five times in six matches before the unbeaten run was snapped with a 1-0 overtime loss to Washington (Sept. 16).

CAL POLY VERSUS SEATTLE: Facing Seattle for the fourth time in the previous seven seasons, Cal Poly's last matchup with the Redhawks finished in a 2-1 home victory on Sept. 29, 2019. Owning a three-match unbeaten run versus the Redhawks, Cal Poly leads the all-time series, 4-1-1.
TRUCCO SETS SCORING PACE: The Big West Conference's leading scorer with four goals, sophomore forward Nikki Trucco surpassed her 2019 goal total after just six matches. Having found the back of the net against Sacramento State (Aug. 29), Air Force (Sept. 2) and Colorado College (Sept. 5), Trucco's first goal of the season came versus Saint Mary's Aug. 22). A starter in seven of eight games, Trucco also leads the program and ranks fifth among Big West players with 10 shots on goal and sixth with 20 total attempts.
LAFAIX BACK ON THE SCORESHEET: Cal Poly's leading returning scorer from 2019 after scoring four times, sophomore midfielder became the program's first Big West Offensive Player of the Week honoree in six years on Sept. 13 after recording her first two goals of the season versus Gonzaga (Sept. 10) and San Jose State (Sept. 12). A starter in seven of eight games, Lafaix also added an assist in the 5-0 win against San Jose State and has placed seven of nine attempts on target this season.
DORVILLIER IN FRAME: Ranked third among Big West goalkeepers with a .760 save percentage and fourth with a 1.54 goals against average, junior Ava Dorvillier earned her first shutout of the season during Cal Poly's 5-0 win against San Jose State (Sept. 12). Dorvillier recorded a career best nine saves against Gonzaga (Sept. 10) after chalking up seven against both No. 24 Stanford (Aug. 19) and at Colorado College (Sept. 5).
SUPER SUB: Cal Poly's second leading scorer with two goals alongside Camille Lafaix, both of freshman Kate Reedy's strikes have come in reserve appearances with the midfielder finding the back of the net against Sacramento State (Aug. 29) and the game-winner at Colorado College (Sept. 5). Averaging just 33.6 minutes per appearance, Reedy has scored once every 134.5 minutes.
