9/19/2021 3:28:00 PM | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – Sophomore forward Nicki Trucco (above) scored her Big West Conference leading fifth goal of the season Sunday afternoon versus Seattle, but an 87th-minute goal from Redhawks midfielder Bailey Hall helped hand the hosts a 2-1 victory at Championship Field.
Junior goalkeeper Ava Dorvillier recorded seven saves for Cal Poly (4-5-0), which took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute as senior defender Danielle Anderson and sophomore midfielder Chiara Serafini combined to set up Trucco, who scored her fifth goal in nine matches past Seattle goalkeeper Jessica Berlin.
Outshot, 17-12, Cal Poly received a pair of Dorvillier saves before Seattle found the equalizer in the 36th minute as defender Michele Adam converted her penalty attempt.
Into the second half, both sides forced the other into a pair of saves during the opening 13 minutes. Dorvillier then chalked up two more saves in the 70th and 72nd minutes to keep the scoreline level.
Three minutes from full time, however, Seattle produced the game-winner with Hall slotting past Dorvillier as Cal Poly saw a three-match unbeaten run versus the Redhawks snapped.
Cal Poly returns home to open its Big West Conference schedule against Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Sept. 23. Kickoff is 7 p.m. for the Mustangs, who close the home stand on Sunday, Sept. 26 versus UC Riverside.
