Cal Poly Third Entering Final Round of Hobble Creek Fall Classic

SPRINGVILLE, Utah -- In sixth place after the first 18 holes of play, the Cal Poly women's golf team jumped into third place in the second round and is just five strokes back of Gonzaga entering Tuesday's final round of the Hobble Creek Fall Classic.
The defending Big West Conference champion Mustangs carded a four-person 300 in the morning and added a 290 in the afternoon for a 22-over-par 590 aggregate. Gonzaga leads with a 585 total followed by Boise State at 589.
Freshman Kamille Dimayuga opened her Cal Poly career with rounds of 74 and 70 and enters the last 18 holes of play tied for third place with two other golfers with two-over-par 144 totals on the 6,135-yard, par-71 Hobble Creek Golf Course.
A graduate of Troy High School in Fullerton, Calif., Dimayuga carded three birdies, three bogeys and a triple-bogey in the first round while her round of 70 featured an eagle on the 450-yard par-5 13th hole along with two birdies and three bogeys.
Individual leader is Chaewon Baek of Gonzaga with a 142 total after rounds of 70 and 72. Baek is one shot ahead of Kimberlee Tottori of Northern Arizona and two in front of Dimayuga, Samantha Bruce of Seattle and Mary Scott Wolfe of Gonzaga,
In addition to Dimayuga, Cal Poly's other scoring golfers included Kaylyn Noh, the only other freshman on this yar's roster, with rounds of 75 and 71 for a 146 total and 11th place, and Vanessa Wang with a 77 and 73 for a 150 total and 24th place.
Noh carded an eagle on the 480-yard par-5 ninth hole in the first round.
Nicole Neale checked in with a 74 and 77 for a 151 total and 29th place while Carissa Wu had a 77 and 76 for a 153 total and 37th place.There are 17 teams and 100 golfers in the tournament.
Noh led the field with nine birdles over the first 36 holes of play. Dimayuga was third in par-4 scoring at two over par while Noh (seven under par) and Dimayuga (five under par) were one-two in par-5 scoring.
