2021 SCHEDULE / TICKETS
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly Women's Soccer announced its 2021 schedule on Tuesday, featuring 11 home matches highlighting a 19-game slate.
Camille Lafaix returns to lead the attack for Cal Poly after she earned United Soccer Coaches All-West Region third-team accolades as a freshman. Lafaix tallied four goals in her debut season of 2019. Also en route to Big West All-Freshman Team honors, she distributed four assists as well, tied for the seventh-most throughout the conference.
In addition, Cal Poly's Nikki Trucco also made the Big West All-Freshman Team, while teammates Danielle Anderson and Sidra Bugsch are also back for the Mustangs following all-conference honorable mention seasons in 2019.
Anderson, now a senior defender, started in all 17 of her games most recently, leading the back line to shutout victories in BWC play against both UC Davis and UC Riverside. Bugsch, a redshirt junior, started all 19 games in 2019, scoring three goals. Trucco, meanwhile, also tallied a trio of goals and added two assists while starting 16 appearances in her debut season.
A three-match upcoming preseason will kick off with an exhibition at Westmont on Aug. 7. Then after hosting Fresno State for a scrimmage on Aug. 11, Alex G. Spanos Stadium will play host to Cal Poly's annual intrasquad tune-up set for Aug. 14.
Regular-season action will commence Thursday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. against Stanford, the 2019 national champion.
A four-game home stand to start the fall continues with Cal Poly hosting Saint Mary's (Aug. 22), Montana (Aug. 26) and Sacramento State (Aug. 29). The Mustangs then travel to the Rockies to visit Air Force on Sept. 2 before facing Colorado College on Sept. 5.
Following ensuing home dates with Gonzaga (Sept. 10) and San Jose State (Sept. 12), Cal Poly wraps up non-conference action visiting the Pacific Northwest to take on Seattle U on Sept. 19.
Big West play starts on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m., hosting defending conference champion Cal State Fullerton at Spanos Stadium. The Titans achieved the 'double' of winning both the regular-season and BWC Tournament titles in 2019. The 2021 conference season continues through Oct. 31.
The top four schools in the regular-season table — which awards 3 points per victory and 1 per draw — will then qualify for the 2021 Big West Tournament, with the conference semifinals scheduled for Nov. 4 and the championship game booked for Nov. 7 on the WatchESPN platform. This year's regular-season champion will host the event, sending the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA postseason.
