Mustangs Drop Friday Road Contest At No. 41 Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. — Playing against a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time this season, the Cal Poly men's tennis team fell to No. 41 Oregon Friday in Eugene 0-7.
The Mustangs (4-5) battled close in doubles, losing at the No. 1 spot 4-6 and the No. 2 spot 3-6.
In singles, Cal Poly redshirt junior Alex Stater fell at the No. 1 spot to the Ducks' (9-2) Joshua Charlton, who is ranked by the ITA No. 30 in the country in singles, 2-6, 1-6.
At the No. 2 position, redshirt senior Antoine Noel fell to Emmanuel Coste, who is ranked No. 76 in the country in singles by the ITA, 1-6, 2-6.
At No. 6 singles, Cal Poly redshirt freshman Fernando Fonseca took his match to three sets after winning the second set, but ultimately fell 3-6, 6-3, 1-0(5).
The Mustangs will remain in Eugene Saturday to take on the University of Portland at 1 p.m.
