Cal Poly Climbs One Notch to 13th Place in PING/ASU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Caroline Cantlay and Elizabeth Scholtes, tied for 14th place after par rounds of 72 in the opening round of play in the PING/Arizona State Invitational on Friday, slipped back during second-round play Saturday.
Cantlay carded a 76 Saturday and fell to 35th place with her 148 total while Scholtes posted a 79 and is tied for 53rd place at 151.
Nicole Neale recorded another 76 for a 152 total and 58th place while Vanessa Wang climbed eight spots, following her 79 on Friday with a 75 Saturday for a 154 total and a tie for 66th place. Madi Daniel completed Cal Poly's scoring with a 77 for a 156 total and 75th-place tie.
Cal Poly moved up one spot into 13th place, adding a 304 total to its 299 from Friday for a 27-over-par 603 aggregate. Arizona State is at even par with its 576 total for the lead, two shots ahead of Michigan. Northwestern is another two strokes back in third place heading into Sunday's final round on the 6,426-yard, par-72 course.
The individual leaderboard is led by Kelly Sim of Northwestern with round of 69 and 70 for a five-under-par 139 total and a one-shot lead over Linn Grant of Arizona State and first-round leader Rachel Heck of Stanford.
Neale is tied for second place in par-3 scoring at one under par.
Final round will be played Sunday morning.
