SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly men's swimming team finished third in the 200-yard medley relay, just narrowly missing breaking the school record, to highlight day two of the MPSF Championships for the Mustangs at Anderson Aquatic Center Wednesday.
The relay team, consisting of junior Gennady Sytnik, junior Christopher Hogan, sophomore Brandon Toland, and junior Grant Brehm finished the event with a time of 1:28.51, just off the school record time of 1:28.21 set back in 2018. It was also the fastest 200-yard relay time by a Mustang quartet this season.
In the other swimming events, Cal Poly finished fourth in the men's 800-yard free relay with a time of 6:40.83 and fifth in both the women's 200-yard medley relay (1:46.13) and the women's 800-yard free relay (7:39.06).
For the second day in a row in diving, Cal Poly senior Noah McKinley qualified for the finals, this time in the men's 3-meter dive with a prelim score of 268.65. He finished the event eighth overall, scoring a 222.15 in the finals.
The MPSF Championships continue Thursday with the men's and women's 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, and 200 free relay starting at 10 a.m. Links to watch and follow live results can be found on the swimming & diving schedule page of GoPoly.com.
