GAME PROGRAM
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly will wrestle outdoors for its first dual meet of the 2021-22 season Saturday afternoon, hosting San Francisco State on the Richard O'Neill Green adjacent to Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
Nine matches will be contested but it will not be an official dual meet as only seven of the 10 weight classes have been filled. The bouts are considered Extra Countable Matches, giving the meet official status, but no team score will be compiled.
Leading the way for Cal Poly will be 174-pounder Adam Kemp, who transferred to Cal Poly a year ago from Fresno State and posted a 6-1 mark for third place in the Michigan State Invitational two weeks ago.
Legend Lamer at 149 pounds went 2-0 before he forfeited his last two matches for medical reasons.
San Francisco State will be led by 141-pounder Josh Tolentino, who has posted a 10-1 record en route to first place at the Mike Clock Open hosted by Pacific University of Oregon and third place at the Menlo Open.
Tyee Ducharme at 174 pounds placed third at the Mike Clock Open with a 5-1 mark.
Cal Poly last wrestled outdoors two years ago, also facing San Francisco State and winning the dual meet 29-15 as Benny Martinez, Tom Lane and Nathan Tausch scored falls and Bernie Truax won by technical fall.
