Luka Wick Earns 149-Pound Title at Roadrunner Open

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Luka Wick claimed first place at 149 pounds while Joey Cape and Trevor Tinker earned second-place finishes at the 2021 Roadrunner Open held Sunday at CSU Bakersfield's Icardo Center.

Wick went 4-0 en route to the title with a fall and three decisions. He decisioned Josh Brown of CSU Bakersfield 9-2 in the final round.

Cape placed second at 133 pounds with a 3-1 mark, compiling a fall and two decisions to reach the finals before he was injured a minute into his title match against Haiden Drury of Utah Valley.

Tinker also scored a fall and two decisions to earn his spot in the finals at 285 pounds, where he was pinned by Jaden Woodruff of Utah Valley in 2 minutes, 39 seconds.

Daniel Vizcarra placed fourth at 157 pounds while Nathan Tausch was fourth at 165 and Cole Jackson finished fourth at 197. Abe Hinrichsen at 133 and Jarad Priest at 174 both finished fifth.

On the Richard O'Neill Green at Cal Poly on Saturday, the Mustangs won three of the seven extra countable matches against San Francisco State.

Legend Lamer at 149 pounds and Adam Kemp at 174 both won by technical fall while Tausch earned a major decision at 165.

Cal Poly will compete in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 3-4.
