SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly women's tennis team capped off an impressive 4-3 win over UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon at Mustang Courts.
The Mustangs started the match off on a strong note, as they quickly clinched the doubles point.
Susanne Boyden and Abby Bacharach easily beat Ashlynn Hall and Cassidy Branstine 6-1 on court two.
Up 1-0, the Mustangs kept the momentum going in singles play, as Reed put the first singles point on the board after sweeping Hazell 6-0, 6-0 on court four.
Saltzen defeated Cassidy Branstine 6-3, 6-1 on court three, giving the Mustangs a 3-0 lead over the Anteaters.
Celine Gruaz beat Hall 6-1, 7-6 on court five, clinching the match for the Mustangs.
Louise Oxnevad fought hard against Vivien Dvali, as she won her first set, lost her second, which forced a third. Oxnevad fell short on court two 6-7, 6-0, 13-11.
Bacharach pushed Tsodikova to three sets but couldn't hold on court six, as she fell 6-0, 4-6, 6-3, making it a 4-2 match.
Boyden battled Branstine on court one, as she won her first set 5-7, then lost her second set 7-6 and then her third 11-9.
Cal Poly is now 3-11 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. The Mustangs will be back on the courts Sunday April 9 at 10: a.m. for senior day to honor Lousie Oxnevad and Sayaka Tsugai.
