Cal Poly Men's Tennis Advances to Semifinals

INDIAN WELLS – The third seeded Cal Poly men's tennis team will advance to the semifinals at the Big West Conference Tournament in Indian Wells, Calif., as it beat the sixth seeded UC Riverside Thursday morning 4-0 in the first round.
Cal Poly battled in doubles play, as Garrett Auproux and Axel Damiens beat Kyle McCann and Max Cohen 6-2 on court three.
UC Riverside's Nabil Abdallah and Anderson Ju tied things back up after they beat Karl Enander and Tim Tan 6-3 on court two, leaving the point for court one to decide.
Corey Pang and Ben Donovan secured the doubles point for the Mustangs, as they beat Cooper Bridge and Gilbert Chung 6-4.
Up 1-0, Josh Ortlip put the first point on the board, as he quickly beat Tadeas Lansky 6-0, 6-1 on court four.
Donovan beat McCann on court two 6-1, 6-1, giving Cal Poly a 3-0 lead.
Antoine Noel clinched the match for the Mustangs after he beat Ju on court six 6-2, 6-2.
The Mustangs' sweep advances the squad to the semifinals, where they will take on No. 2 UC Davis on Friday April 28 at 3:00 p.m.
The winner of this match will take on Santa Barbara or UC Irvine in the Championship Match on Sunday April 30.
Cal Poly last met with UC Davis in the beginning of April, where the Mustangs put up a fight but fell to the Aggies 4-3.
