Mustang Men's Tennis Continues Home Winning Streak

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly men's tennis team picked up its third straight win Sunday afternoon, as they beat Pacific 5-2 at home.
"We are excited to keep our home streak going," said head coach Nick Carless. "We have been playing very hard and we are looking forward to what will be a tough match against USC this weekend."
After being delayed due to the rain, the Mustangs started the match off in doubles play, where Ben Donovan and Corey Pang fell to Akram El Sallaly and Tadiwa Chinamo 6-3 on court one.
Josh Ortlip and Garrett Auproux pushed Alex Giannini and Nathan Hampton but couldn't hold on, as they fell 7-6, giving Pacific the doubles point.
The Mustangs turned the momentum around in singles play, as Antoine Noel quickly defeated Ross Watson on court five 6-2, 6-2, tying the score up 1-1.
Axel Damiens beat Hampton on court six 6-2, 6-3, giving the Mustangs a 2-1 lead over Pacific.
Pang put another point on the board for Cal Poly after he beat Miguel Diaz 6-3, 6-2 on court one.
Auproux put up a fight on court three, but fell to El Sallaly 7-6(5), 6-4.
Up 3-2, Donovan pushed Chinamo to three sets on court two and came out with a win 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, clinching the match for the Mustangs.
With a 4-2 lead, the Mustangs played out the match. Ortlip forced Giannini to a tiebreaker on court four and came out with a win 6-2, 6-7, 1-0.
The Mustangs will hit the road to take on No. 9 USC on Thursday Feb. 23 and will be back at home on Sunday Feb. 26 to take on No. 18 Michigan.
