SAN DIEGO — Two of the six singles matches were extended to three sets, but San Diego rallied to win both, swept the singles matches and also earned the doubles point en route to a 7-0 victory over Cal Poly in a non-conference men's tennis match Saturday.
The Toreros, ranked No. 41 in the nation, improved to 3-2, while Cal Poly is 2-2 on the year.
At No. 3 singles, Corey Pang (pictured at right) of Cal Poly won the first set 6-4 before letting the final two sets slip away, 4-6 and 3-6, against Jordan Angus.
And at No. 6 singles, Mustang Karl Enander won the first set 6-2 before eventually falling 2-6 and 5-7 to Geoffrey Fosso.
The Toreros won the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches by identical 6-2 scores. The No. 3 doubles match, tied 4-4, was halted after San Diego clinched the team point.
Cal Poly returns to action next weekend with non-conference matches at Pacific and Sacramento State.
