Mustangs Set Seven Personal-Best Marks at Mondo Challenge

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men's track and field team posted seven personal-best and one season-best mark on Saturday in the second and final day of competition at the Mondo Challenge hosted by Sacramento State.

In the 800 meter run, junior John Guerrero posted a personal-best time of 1:49.79 in finishing fourth. The time currently places Guerrero 11th in the nation. Senior Aric Champagne also posted a PR in the race with a time of 1:52.29.

In the 400m hurdles, junior David Namath placed second with a time of 53.05 while teammate Trevor Lien had a PR time of 56.46.

Senior Paul Brown continued to improve in the 400m dash with a PR of 49.23 and a sixth place finish while junior Jamison Jordan posted a time of 10.92 in the 100 with teammates Antwaine Miller and Alek Johnson posting times of 11.07 and 11.42 respectively.

Jamison also competed in the 200m dash and finished fourth with a time of 21.88 with junior David Williams posting a time of 23.09. Miller was clocked in 23.20.

Three Mustangs competed in the 1500m with sophomore Kyle Lynch leading the way with a time of 3:50.72 and a third place finish. Frehmen Eric Hayen and Nick Woolfe had times of 3:56.73 and 4:08.67. For Hayen it was a personal-best mark.

The 4x100m relay team of Johnson, Miller, Jordan and Williams posted a season-best mark for a Mustang relay team of 42.06.

In field events on Saturday, freshman Nick Bultman recorded a best in the hammer of 172-feet, 5-inches and a seventh place finish and followed it up with a mark of 47-feet, 7.75-inches in the shot put.

Sophomore Brian Hutchinson placed seventh in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 53-feet, 4.50-inches. Sophomore Joshua Hines placed 13th with a mark of 47-feet, 1.75-inches.

Sophomore Chris Bet finished eighth in the pole vault when he cleared 14-feet, 5.25-inches while Alex Ziebert was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 179-feet, 4-inches.
