Men's Tennis Dominates UC Davis, 7-0

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The 53rd-ranked Cal Poly men's tennis team won its sixth-straight match on Sunday, defeating UC Davis, 7-0, in a Big West Conference tennis match at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. In the sweep, Cal Poly did not drop a set.
With the win Cal Poly improves to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference matches while UCD falls to 3-6 and 0-2 in the Big West.
The match opened the Mustangs dominating doubles play and sweeping the point.
Andre Dome and Matt Fawcett, playing on the first court this season, dominated Hugo Verdi-Fortin and Kyle Miller, 8-1.
Jordan Bridge and Brian McPhee made quick work of Alec Haley and Josh Albert, 6-2 while Marco Comuzzo and Jurgen De Jager defeated Chris Aria and Toki Sherbakov, 8-4.
Singles play followed with each Mustang winning in two sets.
Dome defeated Sherbakov, 6-1 and 6-4, on the first court while McPhee defeated Milller, 6-2, 6-4 on the second.
Comuzzo took care of Aria on the third court (6-4, 6-4) with De Jager taking on Verdi-Fortin, 6-3 and 6-3, on the fourth.
Sebastian Bell easily handled George Horowitz on the fifth court, 6-1 and 6-2, while Naveen Beasley, seeing his first dual action of the season, defeated Haley, 7-5 and 6-4.
The Mustangs will return to the court on March 3 when they host Central Coast rival and the 61st-ranked Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara at noon on the Mustang Courts.
