
No. 66 Cal Poly Whitewashes Cal State Stanislaus

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The 66th-ranked Cal Poly women's tennis team failed to drop a set on Friday afternoon against Cal State Stanislaus as the Mustangs produced a 7-0 sweep at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
Cal Poly (2-2), which has captured the doubles point during 20 of its previous 27 matchups, opened the day with an 8-7 victory at the No. 1 position from sophomore Alexa Lee and freshman Jen Cornea versus Verena Preikschas and Katie Eng. The Mustangs then registered sweeps at No. 2 and 3 from, respectively senior Ashley Pane and junior Jocelyn Davis and the freshmen partnership of Florence Lehane (above) and Gabrielle Gatewood.
Lee opened Cal Poly's singles efforts with a 6-4, 7-6 triumph at No. 1 versus Preikschas before Lehane returned at No. 2 to down Vanesa Reibstein, 6-1, 6-2. Davis topped Eng at No. 3, 6-0, 7-6, ahead of Mustang freshman Kathryn Webb's 6-0, 6-1 defeat at No. 4 of Lexy Harrington. Gatewood produced a 6-0, 6-0 dismantling of McKenzy Harden at No. 5 before Mustang freshman Ane McPike finalized Cal Poly's sweep at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory versus Erin McGurty.
Cal Poly returns to Mustang Courts to open Big West Conference action against Cal State Northridge on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m.
