
Dome's Run at ITA Comes to an End

TULSA, OK – Cal Poly junior Andre Dome's remarkable run through the ITA All-American Championships came to an end on Saturday when he had to withdraw from the consolation bracket due to injury.
Dome won the first set over Mississippi State's George Coupland ,7-6, in a tiebreaker. The Arroyo Grande High School graduate withdrew due to back spasms in the second set when he was trailing 5-2.
Dome's run through the championship started with three-straight wins in the qualifying tournament to advance to the field of 64 and the championship field.
In the opening round of the field of 64, Dome drew the 2nd-ranked player in the nation, Blaz Rola and pushed the Ohio State player to three sets, falling 7-6, 5-7 and 6-1.
Dome moved in to the consolation bracket and defeated Alex Musialek of Kentucky in straight-sets (6-4, 6-4). In the second round he defeated Stephen Hoh of Illinois in dominate fashion, 6-0, 6-3.
It was in the quarter finals that Dome was forced to withdraw.
