Men's Tennis Advances at USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championship

MALIBU, Calif. – In singles play, two Mustangs advanced to the round of 32 while four doubles teams advanced to the round of 16.
Junior Andre Dome advanced after receiving a bye in the round of 128 and defeated Kento Tanaka-Tamaki of Pepperdine, 6-9 6-2 to advance to face Thibaut Visay, the No. 17 see, from the University of San Diego. Dome entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed.
Jurgen De Jager advanced after defeating Kelly Dickson 6-1 6-0 in the round of 128 and came back to defeat Alexander Gyazanov of UCSB 7-5 6-0. De Jager will face Clay Thomson of UCLA in the round of 32.
Jordan Kepler lost in the opening round to Andrew Raphaelson of the University of San Diego, 6-2 6-4.
Brian McPhee defeated Freddy Gelbrich of San Diego State in the opening round before falling to Max Tabatroug of UCLA 6- 6-2.
Marco Comuzzo won his first round match, 6-0, 6-1 over Daniel Simko of LMU before falling 6-3, 6-3 to Emiloop Gomez of USC in the round of 64.
Freshman Naveen Beasley lost in the round of 128 to Garrett Taylor of University of San Diego 6-2, 6-1.
Sebastian Bell lost in the opening round to San Diego State's Jose Sierra Short 6-4 6-2.
Junior Jordan Bridge defeated Reid DelLaubenfeis of Fresno State, 6-2, 7-6 in the opening round before falling 6-0, 6-3 to Ray Samiento of USC in the round of 64.
In doubles play only one Mustang team saw action on day one of the championship. The duo of Sebastian Bell and Marco Comuzzo defeated Max Glenn and Mons Knudtzon of UC Santa Barbara 9-7 and will face the No. 1 seeded team of Sebastian Fanselow and Jenson Turner of Pepperdine on Friday.
Andre Dome and Jordan Bridge, seeded No. 8 in the tournament, will face Jacab Jung and Shuhei Shibahara of UC Irvine in the round of 32 after receiving a bye in the first round.
Brian McPhee and Jurgen De Jager received a bye to the round of 32 and will face Andranik Khatchatryan of San Diego State.
Jordan Keplar and Naveen Beasley also received a pass to the round of 32 and will face the No. 7 seeded team of Alex Brigham and Dennis Mkrtchian of UCLA.
