2016-17 -- Cross Country: Helped the Mustangs win the Big West Conference championship with a dominant team score of 18 points in Hawai’i on Oct. 29, as he ran Kahuku Golf Course with an 11th-place 8k time of 25:33.1 ... opened the season with an 18th-place 25:50.37 at the Lagoon Open around UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 3, contributing to a 19-40 Mustang win in the Blue-Green Rivalry ... came in 43rd at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 17, at 25:04.6 ... added a 34th-place performance of 24:26.5 at the Stanford Invite on Oct. 1 ... also came in 158th at the Adidas Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 15, at 25:41.0 ... made the Big West All-Academic Team for the fifth time in his career.
2015-16 -- Track: Came in second place at the Big West Conference Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a career-best 9:10.80 at Long Beach State on May 13 ... also took second in the event at the dual against UCSB at home on April 30, in 9:24.71 ... in addition to his all-conference runner-up steeple performance, also competed in the 5,000m at Jack Rose Stadium on May 14 (finishing 15th at 15:14.08) ... other season-best times were 1:57.62 in the 800m (clocked at the Big West Double Dual on March 12 at UC Riverside) and 3:55.02 for the 1,500m (also a lifetime best, recorded at the Cal Poly ShareSLO Invitational on March 26) ... made his fourth consecutive Big West All-Academic Team. Cross Country: Closed the season with a 66th-place performance at the NCAA West Regional meet in Seattle on Nov. 13, with a 10k time of 32:24.0 ... was 23rd at the Big West Championships held in Riverside on Oct. 31, posting an 8k of 25:14.60 ... his fall also included a 26:01.05 at the Lagoon Open on Sept. 5 (good for 14th place), a 24:26.0 at Stanford on Sept. 26 (24th place) and a 24:39.9 at Pre-Nationals at Louisville on Oct. 17 (153rd) ... in the only 6k competition, came in 15th, at 18:38.9 at the Fresno State Invitational on Sept. 11 ... again earned all-academic distinction from the conference.
2014-15 -- Track: Won the 3,000-meter steeplechase crown at the dual vs. UCSB at Westmont College on May 2, with a time of 9:12.46 ... ultimately took fifth place in the steeple at the Big West Championships hosted by UC Riverside on May 15, in 9:11.23 (a new PR) ... also clocked a season-best 5,000m showing — 14:51.85 — at the postseason meet ... earned a spot on the conference all-academic honors list. Cross Country: Opened the fall with a 23rd-place time of 26:19.45 at the Lagoon Open on Aug. 30, before also adding a 25th-place finish of 25:22.7 at the WCC Preview on Sept. 13 in Santa Clara.
2013-14 -- Track: Had the team’s second-best steeplechase time over the course of the season, 9:39.04; went on to finish 10th at the Big West Championships in Davis ... also had a season-best 5,000m time of 15:27.81 at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on April 4. Cross Country: At the Fresno State Invitational on Sept. 14, was 11th, at 20:17 ... finished fourth at the Cal Poly Invitational on Oct. 19, in 21:31.
Prep -- At Rowland High School, won Hacienda League championships in the 800m, 1,600m, 3,200m, the mile relay and cross country ... PRs included 1:56.14 in the 800m, 4:17.86 in the 1,600m, 9:23.18 in the 3,200m and 15:04 on the Mt. SAC cross country course ... was the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and belonged to ASB.
Personal -- Born on Dec. 9, 1994 in Rowland Heights ... son of Maria and Francisco Galvez ... has a sister, Kristen, who ran for Fresno State ... majors in mechanical engineering and serves as the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers on campus; has also interned at Northrop Grumman, where he worked on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
